1. n.
Short for weblog.
A meandering, blatantly uninteresting online diary that gives the author the illusion that people are interested in their stupid, pathetic life. Consists of such riveting entries as "homework sucks" and "I slept until noon today."
2. n.
A place for bored people to spew their views out to the world, and to complain about anyone that disagrees with said views. Read obsessively by many.

*(continue ad infinitum)*
3. n.
A website operated by someone who thinks the world actually cares what he ate for breakfast, what his girlfriend said, what bands he listens to, and what he had to do at work.
The most irritating blogs are those run by people who think anyone gives a crap about their ill-informed political opinions and who think that snarky insults is a substitute for good writing.
4. n.
a. summary of webmaster activities in the form of a journal, hosted on a website.
b. short writings on the internet of poor quality.
ex.
"Nobody gives a sweet Christ about your website, let alone your blog"
5. n.
Originally a derivative of weblog, it has now come to mean endless rambling about inconsequential and mundane daily events such as what was eaten by the blogger for breakfast, the quality of the sex he/she had a couple of minutes ago, political ranting designed to appear deeply thoughtful, etc. More appropriately spelled as "blahg". Warning: Blahgs should/can only be read by other blahgers.
ex.
"Did you read her blahg about her boyfriend going down on her at Chili's last night? Good stuff!"

Hihi.
Oh shit, I forgot.
Hehe.

These were actually emails forwarded to me last 2001 pa. Hehe. I just wanted to share them, I found them interesting kasi. Funny yung first part, tas yung last naman talagang brain-teaser. Ayun, read on! ;)
------------
Kopimeyt dapat at huwag gatas. (Milk in my cereal, kopimeyt in my pepsi. Sounds good to me!)
7. Kung ang 7-11 store ay bukas 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, at 365 days a year, bakit may lock pa ang pinto nila? Bakit? Bakit?
Pangalawa, mayroon tayong tinatawag na leap year.
At lagi rin natin sana tandaan ang dayuhang salawikain na "ask a dumb question and you'll get a dumb answer."
-------------------
Sensha. Try nyong sagutin, tignan natin kung ma-gets nyo. Medyo may idea pa rin ako kung ano yung sagot, so just try it.
1. One day, Tita celebrated her birthday. Two days later, her older twin brother, Tito, celebrated his birthday. How can this happen?
2. Why is it better to have round manhole covers than square ones?
3. A man went to a party and drank some punch. He left early. Everyone else at the party who drunk the punch subsequently died of poisoning. How did the man survive?
4. A woman had two sons who were born on the same hour of the same day of the same year. Yet they were not twins. How could this be so? (Hint: They were also not test-tube babies, nor were they born of surrogate mothers.)
5. A man walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a glass of water. The bartender pulls out a gun and points it at the man. The man says, "Thank you," and walks out. What happened?
6. In a certain mythical community, politicians never tell the truth. A stranger meets three natives and asks them, "Are you a politician?" The first native answers the question. The second native then reports that the first native denied being a politician. The third native says that the first native is a politician. How many of these natives are politicians?
7. Of three prisoners in a certain jail, one had normal vision, the second had only one eye, and the third was totally blind.
The jailer told the prisoners that from three white hats and two red hats, he would select three and put them on the prisoners' heads. None could see what color hat he wore. To prevent a lucky guess, the jailor threatened execution for any incorrect answer.
The first prisoner could not tell what hat he wore. Next, the jailor made the same offer to the one-eyed prisoner. The second prisoner could not tell what hat he wore either. The jailor did not bother making offer to the blind prisoner, but he agreed to extend the same terms to that prisoner when he made the request. The blind prisoner said:
I do not need to have my sight
From what my friends with sight have said
I clearly see that my hat is ______!
How did he know?

A World Apart From Our Own
Late last December, my estranged cousins, my kabarkada and I went to Anilao, Batangas without any oldies. Promise, I was so overwhelmed by both my cousins' stories (kasi I barely know them) and by the marine life.
We went snorkeling, and here's what we saw:

The coral reefs. Pretty clean and peaceful. There were plenty of them, even in the shallow parts of the beach (that's why I had lots of cuts and scratches on my leg. But it's worth it). :D

The one thing I'm scared of underwater. There are lots of sea urchins in Anilao, too.

More corals.

I found Nemo!!

Dory! Mwehehe! Schools of fish kept swimming with us as if we were one of 'em.

More corals. See that black-white-yellow striped fish? He's Gil (Willem Dafoe), one of Nemo's friends in the dentist's aquarium. :)

Biiiig and scary!

Starfish! They're soooo pretty!

Too bad there were no pearls. Hihi.
Actually, these pics came from google. Hehe. I don't have those underwater cam thingys kasi so yun. But these are pretty much what I saw.
Let me tell you, pictures are no match for the real thing. It doesn't take a marine biologist to appreciate them up close.
--------------
Speaking of marine biologist, did you guys know that it was one of my ambitions? That's why I wanted to take up Biology.
If I were one, I would've spent the trip identifying the species of shells and fish and corals and whatever invertebrates Anilao offered.

Dudes,
Happy Twenty-Oh-Five!
I hope this new year is as good, if not better, than the previous years.
-----------
Instead of making a looong list of New Year's resolutions (which would undoubtedly be forgotten in the next couple of months), I decided to make an even longer list of things to be thankful for this previous year, 2004.
1. that I'm alive, breathing, and kicking! I'm thankful that I'm literally and figuratively complete (I have every digit, and I am not horribly disfigured).
2. that I have a house big enough for my entire family, and an intact, loving home.
3. that I have enough money to feed myself.
4. that I have close friends who love me and who try hard not to strangle me with frustration every time I'm being a real prick [Karen, Meryll, Tina, Wenchelle].
5. that I'm somewhere in the middle -- not too conservative, yet not too liberated either. Believe me, I experienced both, and twas not a pretty picture for me. Twas DIFFICULT for me to adjust.
6. that I'm studying in the University of the Philippines, Manila, and that I have the best blockmates I could ever have!
7. that I have a cellphone, laptop, PC, iPOD, acoustic guitar and other gadgets that work pretty decently for my own entertainment.
8. for Muffin, my ever adorable and lovable basset hound, and our new addition to the family, Side Dish, a male Miniature Pinscher.
9. that I have enough common sense not to do things I'm not supposed to do.
10. that I have no vice -- I don't smoke [although Taft Avenue provides me with plenty of smoke to kill me], I don't do drugs [I believe in a natural high!], and I'm not an alcoholic [I don't get drunk, I only get tipsy. And I drink on special occassions lang].
11. that I have enough comfortable clothes and shoes, and I have enough money to pamper myself with kikay stuff.
12. for our new state-of-the-art toilet and bath with the revered and exalted jacuzzi!
13. for Dishwalla! Gaaah, I'm really thankful for them! And Kitchie Nadal! And Sponge Cola! And Stone Free! And Sugarfree! And Bamboo! And Parokya Ni Edgar! And Rivermaya! And Bridge! Lahat ng alternative!
14. for HBO Original Series and Movies -- 6 Feet Under! Sex and the City! Carnivale! chaka yung ibang sitcoms like That '70's Show! CSI Las Vegas! Friends (reruns)! Amazing Race!
15. for The Giver by Lois Lowry, Stephen King Books [Dreamcatcher, Hearts in Atlantis, The Long Walk, Needful Things, Insomnia, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon...], Artemis Fowl series, Harry Potter series, The Narnian Chronicles, Bridget Jones' Diaries, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller, Dan Brown's books [Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress, Deception Point], Godfather by Mario Puzo, Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Luwalhati Bautista's books [Gapo, Dekada '70, Bata..], Manananggal Terrorizes Manila and other short stories by Jessica Zafra, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and lots more!
16. for this year's movies: Wong Kar-wai's 2046, 50 First Dates, The Bourne Supremacy, The Butterfly Effect, Dogville, Fahrenheit 9/11, Finding Neverland, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Incredibles, Kill Bill Volume 2, The Notebook, The Passion of Christ, Secret Window, Shark Tale, Spiderman 2, The Terminal, Troy, and The Village
17. for Friendster! Blogdrive! mIRC [for mp3 downloads]! YM!
18. for my new hobby, rare DVD hunting! Even if Quiapo's a really creepy place, hehe.
19. for the Windermere!
20. Madami pa eh. Pero eto, last. Thanks kay/for Mark. :)

Time to reset the Christmas countdown to 363 days more!
Wow, I can't believe Christmas is over. I hope everyone had a great time like I had.
For as long as I can remember, my parents and grandma have been giving me money for Christmas. Tis reasonable, since their too old to brainstorm for gifts. And anyway, they know my siblings and I have lots of things we want to buy, so there.
I got about Php 7,000.00, and I nearly shelved it in just a single shopping trip. Mwehehe. See, you could give me half a million pesos and it'd be gone in just a day. It's not about budgeting problems. Quite the contrary. It's just that I'm pihikan when it comes to stuff, and usually, the things I want are freakin expensive.
So anyway, I splurged my Christmas money on (1) a pair of Birkenstock sandals (I've been wanting a pair for as long as I can remember, (2) a pair of Levi's jeans, (3) a pair of flip-flops for the beach trip, and (4) three reaaally cute tops. I have only Php 1,500.00 left-over. Sigh. Oh well.
--------------
Oh my God. I'm still in shock over what happened to South Asia. I mean, who would've thought that after Christmas, something catastrophic would kill thousands of people?
My dad says this disaster overshadowed what happened in the Quezon province. No kidding! I mean, the death toll's now around 100,000+! I've been flipping the channels between CNN and BBC, and seeing that tsunami gave me goosebumps.
Wow. You gotta give Mother Nature credit for her fierceness.
My mom's really thankful, though. She said it's a good thing we didn't have any money. She planned for us to go to Phuket since they had a huge discount or something. $130.00 per person for three days. Whew. Close shave.
But please spare a couple of minutes for a short prayer for the victims of the killer quake and tsunami. It's really the least we could do.

Gaaah!!
Remember I told you I didn't sleep yesterday? Well, after arriving from the exhausting last-minute shopping, I expected I would sleep very soundly afterwards.
Well, I did. ONLY FOR FOUR HOURS! I mean, I just woke up at 3:00am without any reason at all and couldn't come back to sleep.
Fuck.
What the hell's happening to me?
---------
Since I have the whole morning ahead of me, I wrapped my presents for my family, and I took an amazing bath in our ever-so-wonderful jacuzzi.
It's been quite a while since I last dipped there, I'm guessing twas last summer. I stopped because I got UTI, and I don't want to experience the whole hospital scenario over again.
So while I was playing with the bubbles, relaxing in the low murmur of the motor of the revered jacuzzi, I got into reminscing. As most of you know, I'm a water-lover. As in. Even though I nearly drowned THREE times already.
---------
The first and second time was in the province with my sister.
It was in a some kind of clear lake, and I think during that time I still couldn't swim well [after three different swimming lessons!]. We were standing on a mossy rock, and my sister and I slipped. The water was above my nose, and I was on tiptoes and I had my head tilted to be able to breath. Believe it or not, my sister and I were LAUGHING! In between gulps of breath, we were laughing. Goodness. We were laughing like lunatics, and the people around us certainly thought we were lunatics. I guess that's the reason why they were so reluctant reaching out to us. It ended up with me regaining balance, and I got back to the slippery moss and pulled my sister up, with both of us still laughing.
The third [and hopefully last] time was a year ago, when I was in fourth year. My barkada and I decided to have a swimming escapade in Cavite during the sembreak. I think between the five of us [Karen, Wenchelle, Wenchelle's brother Paul, Tina and Eric], Wenchelle and I are the only ones who relatively know how to swim.
We were in the deepest part of the pool, with the others clinging on to the sides, and I decided to let Tina hold on to my back while I swam back to the other side. I got a big breath and went underwater. This really scared Tina, and she started holding on reaaaally tight to my neck, suffocating me. Whenever I resurfaced, she pushes me back underwater so she could stay above the water.
And get this, I was really out of breath, but every time I resurfaced, I was LAUGHING. I know, I know. There's really something wrong with me.
I remember feeling really tired, and I was seeing black with white spots. And then the other part of me suddenly said, "Gago, pag namatay ka hindi ka na papayagan ni Mommy na magswimming!"
Weird no? Hehe. Basta, it was at that time that Eric pulled me and Tina out of the deep part of the pool.
----------
The thing is, although I nearly drowned, I still love the water. As in. Kaya I couldn't wait til December 28, we're going to the beach! Yey!
